On Trend with Old Navy

I was scrolling online at Old Navy and decided to click on the "On Trend" option to see what items popped up.
Remember, I am not one for things that are too terribly trendy.
I like to stick to the classics.
Plus, I am cheap!
So I need the clothing items I purchase to span from work to play as much as possible.
A lot of the items I came across are classic pieces which kind of surprised me.

These are just the items I thought were cute.
I am not being paid or reimbursed or working with Old Navy on this post.
But if you are reading Old Navy...I would love to work with you ;)

The first item that jumped out at me is this navy striped cardigan.
It looks like such a great year round piece really.
I could easily see myself wearing it to work, with jeans, and even shorts in the Spring/Summer.
It also comes in this gorgeous orange shade as well!!!
<Insert all the heart eye emojis>

This striped top just screams my name!
I feel like I could throw it on with some shorts and a hat and enjoy a day on some one's boat :)
Anyone have a boat I could join you on?

I have a serious love for all things Navy in the Spring time.
This sueded crossbody bag is adorable!

It really shouldn't be any surprise that I would pick a jacket ;)
Especially a moto jacket!
In Navy ;)
It actually comes in a wide variety of other colors as well :)

I am not typically a jumpsuit/romper person, but this just looks so comfortable!
And it could easily be dressed up or down :)

While I do like to wear dresses more in the Spring/Summer, I am not a fan of floral print.
This dress seems to suck me in regardless of the print.
Again, a great piece that I could wear to work or for fun :)

These jeans look so comfy to me!
Yes, I said jeans and comfy in the same sentence.
You know I would take a pair of jeans any day of the week over leggings/yoga pants!
And that splattered paint detail sucks me right in too!

I am loving the fact that we are slowly moving away from skinny jeans.
<And all the big bottom/curvy girls said AMEN!>
These cropped flares with the cut hem are so stinkin' cute!

I haven't spent money on workout clothes in awhile!
Mainly because I workout at home so nobody sees me.
But these mesh panel crops are making me think I need to up my game.
And maybe even take a class outside of the house every now and then ;)

Have you checked out Old Navy recently?
What are some of your favorite items they are offering?

So I hosted a Wine Tasting...

If you know me, you know I am not a big drinker.
But when I do have an adult beverage I typically go for a cocktail or cider beer.
So it makes total sense that I hosted a wine tasting at my house this weekend right?!?!

I actually attended a couple other tasting parties at friends houses and really enjoyed them.
Traveling Vineyard is the company that our gracious wine guide Jessica works for.
She brings 5 wines to your home to taste and keep for free.
She also supplies the wine glasses, the steps to tasting the wine, and suggests food that pair well with each of the wines.

As the host, my job is to gather a group of friends together to join me for a tasting.
I also am provided with a list of foods that pair well with the wines.
Since my event was so close to Valentine's Day I decided to go with that theme for decor.

So here are the wines we tasted and the foods we enjoyed with them.

Hoot (off dry white blend) - Chips and salsa/guacomole

Zeffer Hills (chardonnay - fuller body, dry white) - cheese and crackers/french bread and cheese fondue

Marula (Pinotage, red)- Meatballs with BBQ sauce

OJA! (Monastrell Syrah, medium body red) - Italian meats and bread

Fissata Blonde (fizzy white wine, dessert style, sweet) - Dark Chocolate fondue with strawberries, pound cake, pretzels, and marshmallows

And then I added a 6th bottle to the mix from my own collection.
I had purchased a bottle of Calamity Sue (Reisling - off dry white) from a wine party I had attended, but never tried it.
I figured it was a great night to break it out and see if anyone else liked it too!

I also shared some Double Date (sweet rose', dessert style) and Smirk (Mostacal - off dry white).

We had so much fun sipping on the different wines, nibbling on the yummy spread, and just relaxing with some great friends.
Honestly, that last one was the best part!
The party began at 6pm and the ladies all left around 1am!
You know that it was a good night! :)
We shared so many laughs together.
I just wish a few others were able to join us.
Next time for sure!

I also picked up a few extra bottles of wine at the store (just in case ;) as well as some party favors for the ladies to take home with them.

Have you ever attended or hosted a Traveling Vineyard or other wine tasting party?

Short, Sweet & A Little Q&A

Happy Friday!
This week has been super low key!
X and I both had have colds so we are taking it pretty easy.
However, we do have another busy weekend ahead of us, so rest has been our best friend this week!

As always, I am linking up with Erika, Narci & Andrea for...

On Monday I caught you up on the highs and lows of our weekend :)
Favorite - seeing all these little guys having fun together
Not so favorite - knowing it is one of the last times they will all play with Colton since he moves in a couple weeks to Georgia :(

Wednesday was all about how I (try to) take care of myself!
All I can say is that I am a work in progress ;)

I can't go a week without at least one favorite from Instagram!
I thankfully have a couple of ladies who fall into this category in my life!
You know who are ;)

I celebrated a super low key Valentine's Day with my little guy since Mic had to work.
We had spaghetti and I had some homemade chocolate covered strawberries for dessert :)

In other news, we are getting close to starting the big Home Remodel at our house.
I am scared, excited, terrified, over the moon, etc.

I need to think about packing, where we are going to live, etc.
But who can think about those kind of things when you are looking at pictures of kitchen sinks and such! lol!

I want to know your thoughts on some items that I can't decide on right now.
Take ranges/ovens for example...
How many burners is ideal?
What are your thoughts on duel fuel ovens?
What about double ovens? Or even steam ovens?
Or warming drawers?
Do electric ovens really cook/bake more evenly than gas?

From my baking experience, gas has ALWAYS cooked/baked more evenly for me.
But in all the reviews I have read, and store clerks I have spoke with they say electric cooks more evenly.
Anyone else feel this way?

Next item....farmhouse sinks.
I know I want a farmhouse apron style sink in stainless steel.
I would prefer a double basin.
Do you like double or single?
Why do all the stainless steel sinks seem to have a curved front?
Does anyone know where I can find a extra deep sink?

Is a top of the line dishwasher with all the bells and whistles worth it?
How many of you have two dishwashers in your kitchen?

Do I need a prep sink?
What about a pot filler by my oven?

This is all new to me!
Any suggestions, tips, etc. you may have for me on a major home remodel would be greatly appreciated :)
Especially areas you think are worth spending the money and where to save!

Back to reality for this weekend though!
We have another basketball game on the docket for our little guy tonight,
and then I am hosting a wine tasting party at my house on Saturday evening.
So that means lots of cleaning, cooking, etc. during the day tomorrow :/
Wish me luck!

What are your plans for this weekend?

How We...Take Care of Ourselves

First let me say...
I hope you all have a wonderful day with loved ones, friends, etc.!

Today I am linking up with Shay & Erika for...

Today is about how we take care of ourselves!
Maybe it should be titled, How I wish I took care of myself ;)

As a full-time, work outside the home mom, I get very little time to do things for myself.

There are a few things that I must do to take care of myself,
a few things I would like to do more often,
and quite a few things I would love to do.

What I Do
I get my hair professionally cut and colored/highlighted every 8-10 weeks.
I schedule my appointments for the entire year so I don't have to worry about getting in last minute, and my hair (fingers crossed) lasts that long in between cuts and color.
I invested in better styling tools and products to keep my hairstyle looking good/how I want it to look.
Who would have thought that a curling iron and hair dryer that were in the $30-40 range would make such a difference vs. the $10 tools.

I have invested in quality skincare products that work well for me.
I have tried some other products over the last few years, but I invest in Rodan and Fields because it really works for me.

I workout at least 5 days a week for 30-45 minutes until I have that oh so good exhausted feeling :)
If there was one thing I would pick from this list that is an absolute must for me it is this one!
Working out - yoga, barre class, cardio, etc. - totally transforms my mood!

What I Like To Do
Painting my finger and toe nails makes me feel so much more pulled together.
Finding the time to do it is tough though.
But I just started using a quick dry top coat and it has changed my world!

Sunless tan at home.
I used to go to the tanning bed back in my high school days and it just isn't worth it.
Yes, I would love to be tan year round but not at that cost!
This stuff works really well...when I remember to use it ;)
And it doesn't make me look orange in the middle of winter!

Drink more water!
I already drink a ton of water, but there are days when I slack :(

What I Wish I Did
Get more quality time with friends!
And at the same time be able to say no.
Why don't I get much time with my friends.....because we ALL over schedule ourselves :(
I need to work on my schedule this year for sure!

This goes right along with working out for me!
Dancing is so much fun for me.
I need to see if there is a hip hop class offered for adults around here.

Goof off!
I have a REALLY hard time letting loose.
I just can't seem to stop thinking about responsibilities or possible problems that could arise.

Sleep more!
I go to bed way too late...I always have really.
I need to work on getting my mind to shut down every night before 1am so I can get some good sleep.

Hire a maid/house cleaner.
This needs to be the first thing I get on my schedule!
I have been talking about it forever, but I never pull the trigger.
I think I am nervous for some reason.
